Book Interior Kit FAQ
Book Interior Kit / FAQ
Answers for KDP authors preparing image-based interiors.
This FAQ covers installation, free testing, Pro unlock, page order, KDP bleed settings, PDF export, privacy, and final upload checks. Book Interior Kit is independent software and is not affiliated with Amazon or Kindle Direct Publishing.
Install and platforms
Which platforms are supported?
Book Interior Kit is built for Windows 10/11 and macOS. Windows distribution is through Microsoft Store. The Mac build is provided as a signed and notarized DMG only when the public Mac download is marked live.
Do I need an account to try the app?
No. Free mode is available after installation. Pro export requires a license key after purchase.
Free mode, Pro, and payment
What can I do for free?
Free mode lets authors process up to 10 images in one batch and preview the generated interior PDF inside the app before buying Pro.
What does Pro unlock?
Pro removes the 10-image batch limit and unlocks export for prepared page images and interior PDF files. Pro is a one-time USD 29 license.
Where do I enter a license key?
Open the desktop app, paste the full license key into the Pro access area, and click Unlock Pro. The app validates the signed key locally.
Image import and page order
How should I name image files for correct PDF page order?
Use numbered filenames with leading zeros, such as 001.png, 002.png, and
003.png. Avoid names like page1, page10, page2, because
simple alphabetical sorting can put page 10 before page 2.
Can Book Interior Kit fix blurry artwork?
It can place artwork onto a correct 300 DPI page canvas, but it cannot restore detail that was not present in the original image. Start with the highest-quality source art available.
KDP page settings
What is the difference between bleed and no bleed?
Bleed is for artwork, backgrounds, or page elements that reach the page edge. No bleed keeps content inside the trimmed page. Choose the same mode you plan to use in KDP and review the final file in KDP Previewer.
What does 300 DPI output mean?
The app calculates page pixels from the selected trim size at 300 DPI, then places each image on that page canvas so exported pages use consistent dimensions.
Coloring books and backing pages
What is an anti-bleed backing page?
It is a gray-black page inserted after an artwork page to reduce show-through when readers color with heavier media. It is optional and is not an Amazon requirement.
Privacy and local processing
Are my images uploaded to Book Interior Kit servers?
No. In version 1, imported images, generated previews, prepared page images, and exported PDFs are processed locally on the user's computer.
Troubleshooting and limits
Does Book Interior Kit guarantee KDP approval?
No. It helps reduce common file-preparation mistakes, but Amazon's review and KDP Previewer remain the final checks.
