Book Interior KitAnswersimage-based paperback interiors

Which KDP trim size matches my image dimensions?

Short answer: Divide the pixel width and height by 300. The result is the printable size in inches at 300 DPI. Match that size to your intended KDP trim size, then decide whether the page needs bleed.

Why this matters

KDP interiors are built around physical trim sizes, while artwork is usually exported as pixels. A 2550 x 3300 px image equals 8.5 x 11 in at 300 DPI. If the page uses bleed, the canvas must include the extra bleed area required by KDP.

Pixel size at 300 DPIPhysical size
1800 x 2700 px6 x 9 in
2400 x 3000 px8 x 10 in
2550 x 3300 px8.5 x 11 in
2625 x 3375 px8.75 x 11.25 in bleed canvas for an 8.5 x 11 in trim

Recommended workflow

  1. Check the pixel dimensions of the artwork folder.
  2. Divide width and height by 300 to get inches.
  3. Choose the closest KDP trim size and decide whether the book uses bleed.
  4. Use Book Interior Kit to place the finished images onto consistent 300 DPI pages and preview the PDF locally.

Where Book Interior Kit fits

Book Interior Kit helps with the local file-preparation step for image-based KDP paperback interiors. It is independent software, not an Amazon or KDP official product.
