Book Interior Kit / Answers

Why does KDP say my interior has insufficient bleed?

Short answer: KDP may show this warning when the PDF page size is too small for the selected bleed setup, artwork does not extend far enough past the trim edge, or white gaps remain around full-page images. Match the KDP bleed setting and inspect the affected pages.

Why this causes KDP problems

Bleed is a page-size and content-extension issue. If the page box is no-bleed size, or if full-page art stops at the trim line, KDP may detect that the printed page could have a white edge after trimming.

Recommended workflow

  1. Confirm whether your KDP book setup is bleed or no bleed.
  2. Use the matching full-page PDF size.
  3. Make backgrounds and edge-to-edge artwork reach the bleed edge.
  4. Keep non-bleed text and important art inside margins.
  5. Check the exact pages KDP reports.
  6. Run the revised PDF through KDP Previewer again.

Where Book Interior Kit fits

Book Interior Kit creates consistent page canvases from the chosen trim size and bleed mode. That helps reduce mixed page boxes, undersized backing pages, and white-edge mistakes in image-based interiors.
